SOCKS

1. I really like the new pattern for the six socks knitalong. It's a gansy-type pattern that really needs a solid-color yarn. I would actually prefer to do it in a 'traditional' neutral color, but I don't think I have anything like that in my stash that will actually meet gauge. I need something that's slightly thicker than most of my sock yarn since the pattern has you cast on 60 sts with US 1 needles (there is a 30 stitch repeat, so adding stitches won't be trivial). I think I will go ahead and use that great 'lemondrop' yarn I got from the copper moth last week. It reminds me of koigu, which I usually knit at 60 sts on US 1s. Not a 'traditional' color, but one of my favorite colors (plus I think the stitch pattern will show up well).

2. I also joined the Knitting on the Road knitalong. I bought the book several years ago specifically because I wanted to make the Friday Harbor socks for my sister (she spent a summer doing research on Friday Harbor). I even have the exact yarn called for in the pattern in the exact color. Since Friday Harbor is the pattern for Aug/Sept, I'm hoping this will get me motivated!
