Check out what my sister wrote to me today in an email: I wore that grey and black arctic hat that you knit for me all day today because I still feel like crap, and one of my coworkers could not believe that you knit it. She is a little bit of a knitter and was very impressed. I told her this was nothing compared to what else you do!

As you can see (below), I just started a Yahoo group called Vegan Knitters. I have been trying very hard to transition to veganism again and have been hanging out on a veganism discussion board. There are some people there who are knitters and one of them suggested that we start a group (hi Kitty)! We already have about 15 members so that's pretty amazing to me!

In other news, I cast on for my regia cotton plus sock last night and did a few rows of ribbing.

Yay! Last night while watching Joe Millionaire I finished regia cotton sock #1. I love this yarn. It is my new favorite sock yarn. I did 64 stitches on 1s and it fits me perfectly and feels wonderful on the foot. No SSS this time--I plan to cast on sock #2 tonight because I can't wait to wear these!

Check out elann today--they just listed some great cones of recycled cotton yarn. How cool is that??? Yes, I bought 2 cones.

Yesterday I got my new Rowan mag (along with *ahem* some Rowan yarn). I love it--it's got so many great patterns in it. Although with further inspection, I notice that many of them are either too skimpy for me or have too much colorwork. BUT I think I found the perfect pattern for my linen drape in watermelon--the Lola sweater. Very cute.

Still plugging away on that regia sock. Just finished the gusset decreases (I didn't work on it much yesterday).

Hurrah for weekends! Last night I turned the heel on my regia socks and picked up the gusset stitches.

We stopped at the bookstore and I picked up a cool magazine with soap & lotion recipes. It also had a little pattern for a washcloth and a wash mitt using lion brand kitchen cotton. I think I should make up one of the wash mitts using the organic cotton I bought from elann.

I have split pea soup in the crockpot and whole wheat bread rising in the kitchen. Time to go knit on my sock!

Well, I finally found something that I want to knit. Socks! I'm using some Regia Cotton Plus Jacquard. This yarn rules!

Home again today, still don't feel like knitting. Sitting here eating some green tea flavored soy ice "cream". Trying to decide if I like this flavor--I don't think so. Contemplating starting a cotton shopping bag or a beanie-type hat for my sister's bf. I'm off to watch stupid tv!

Well, I finished the knit exchange item I was working on and even washed it. I'm glad that's out of the way. Now I don't fell like working on anything. Maybe I will just wind some skiens into balls for a while.

Sick day knitting. Home from work today cuz I don't feel so good. I think I will lay on the futon all day knitting and drinking tea. I am finishing up my secret exchange project. I'm not sure what I will work on after that. I want to start a pair of socks for my sister, a pair for my mom, a pair for my sister's bf. Plus the peace shawl and about a million other things. We'll see....

Yesterday I worked on my red Manos shawl and also did some frogging. I had 2 UFOs (sweaters) in my knitting basket that I basically started, did a tiny bit on, then put them in the basket. Obviously they weren't going anywhere so I ripped them and now I feel better!

Holidays rock!!! There aren't a lot of things better than a 3-day weekend. I've accomplished a lot. Today I've been making soap and making cookies. The ample-knitters list calls UFO day on Monday so I have decided to get out my Manos shawl and work on that some. There's a knitting group meeting tonight in Encinitas, but I'm not sure if I will go since I can't miss the big season finale of Joe Millionaire! LOL

Yesterday we went to a used bookstore and I scored four knitting books, including a hardcover copy of Barbara Walker's first treasury and Meg Swansen's knitting. Yeeehaww!!

I started something for a knitting exchange but I can't tell you about it just in case that person sees this blog! I also frogged the aran baby sweater (it just wasn't happenin') and started the seamless baby cardigan from A Passion for Knitting. Hurrah for no sewing!!

Happy Valentine's Day! I really wish I could be home right now working on my "modern romance" socks or my cheesylove sweater! Oh well, at least it's Friday and I get a 3 day weekend.

Non-knitting content: Hubby and I are trying to get away from the commercialism of valentine's day a bit. I mean, it's nice to have a special day with an excuse to show your love, but things get a little out of control sometimes. Restaurants and florists triple their prices, cards cost like $8. This morning when I got up there was a little miniature rose plant sitting on the dining room table. I have been informed that DH ordered me a present (jewelry, I think) but there was a shipping error (not his fault) and now it won't be here until Tuesday. I'm planning to make a candlelight dinner--pasta (fusilli with roasted asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and pine nuts), french bread, white wine, and chocolate fondue for dessert.

Smooches to all!

Last night I did a little bit of knitting on my February socks (but not much). I talked to my mom and she is freezing her butt off in northern Wisconsin. She says she wears her wool socks all the time to keep warm! Tonight I definitely need to start a new pair for her. Lorna's Laces worsted to the rescue!! :)

Hand-knit socks kick butt!!! Today I'm wearing a pair that I made with some Lorna's Laces Shepard sock (parfait colorway). They are so comfy and soft and warm in my Birkenstock clogs! Speaking of LL, last night I cast on the February socks from The Sock Calendar. I am using LL shepard sport in the Valentine colorway. Yay! I am doing both at the same time on dpns again because then I don't have SSS. Double yay!

I just bought plane tickets to visit my sister and her bf in March. They live in Bellingham, Washington (near Seattle) and I have never been there. Of course this relates to knitting because I want to knit a pair of socks for each of them to give them when I'm there. I think I'll use LL worsted.

Yay--the January socks are done and I'm even wearing them today! You can see them here and here. I think they are adorable and they feel fabulous too. The yarn is "Norwegian Sport Wool" from elann and it's a superwash.

It's very weird that I only have one active WIP at the moment. That never happens! I may cast on the February socks tonight (from the sock calendar).

I really didn't do any knitting yesterday. It was big housework day for the 2 of us (and then I had to finish up a cross stitch for an exchange). I did wear my fuzzy feet for the first time, though. I always seem to have cold feet and now I have something soft and toasty warm to put on them!

Velona is a weird place. Let's just say they have tons of stuff but it's not organized very well. I managed to leave with only enough yarn for 2 pairs of socks. I got some Regia plus Cotton Jaquard Color and some GGH Sprint, which I've never used before (75% cotton and 25% nylon). I also got some yarn in the mail that I got off eBay--2 big skeins of cotton chenille. I want to try making some washcloths so we'll see how it knits up and washes.

I made some progress on my January socks while at the MIL's. Everyone had to comment/admire/feel them. MIL also wore the scarf I gave her for Christmas when we went out to dinner and she seemed pretty proud of it!

Still plugging along on my January socks (what do you mean it's February)? LOL I am on the foot on both so it's smooth sailing (read: boring) from here on out. I am bringing them along when we go to MIL's house today. Unfortunatley I can't knit in the car (I get carsick), but maybe while we're there. I get to stop at Velona, but I don't even know if I will buy anything. I'll try to be good!!

Oh, I almost forgot! Last night I started a knitting bag using Rowan dk handknit cotton. I was looking though the two Rowan mags I have that are summer and the pattern was in one of them. It calls for 5 skeins, which is about what I have left over from my Zoe Mellor sweater. So it will be a strange multicolor bag of some sort, probably random stripes. Cool--actually using up some stash!

I put the fuzzy feet through another cycle in the washing machine. Here's how they look now. They might need one more cycle--I'll decide tomorrow.

I finished the knitting on my fuzzy feet--here is a pic. I put them through one cycle in the washer (hot), but they didn't felt much at all. I guess this weekend I will have to run them through a few more times (which is annoying at 75 cents a pop).

Colourway is having a big Rowan and Jaeger sale again--I was very, very bad! I ordered the new Rowan mag, the cotton tape collection, the all seasons cotton collection, and three bags of Rowan sale yarn.

Wondering what to do on Valentine's Day? Check this out! :)

Not much knitting going on around here--I've been busy! Working a lot, plus I'm looking into some new hobbies (yeah, like I need more). Namely, making my own soap, shampoo, shower gel, etc. I'm starting out the easy way--just buying unscented uncolored bases and adding my own essential oils, etc. Should be fun and save some money in the long run (since I buy toiletries from Whole Foods or the Co-op, which can get very expensive). I've also been doing some reading since I have books and magazines piled up everywhere that I've been "meaning to get to".

I'm so disappointed with my local knitting group, the SanDiegoFiberFolk. We were supposed to knit in beautiful Balboa park this weekend, but people are saying that temps in the 60s (F) and sunny is too cold. Now, everyone reading this who is actually in a cold climate can stop laughing. LOL Anyway, now I'm not going and that means we have to go visit the MIL on Saturday (for her birthday). At least I get to stop at a yarn store (Velona) on the way!

Fuzzy feet--I picked up the gusset stitches on the second one and did the decreases.

Fuzzy feet: I finished one and just turned the heel on the second one. That's about all I have to say today! :)

I started my Fuzzy Feet last night for the Fuzzy Feet Felt-Along. I am using Lamb's Pride worsted in dusty rose. These are fun because they work up really quickly. I probably could have finished one last night but I got too immersed in "Joe Millionaire" and had to stop knitting. LOL So right now I have about 7 or 8 inches done on the foot of the first one.

Well, yesterday I was kind of busy around the house (and out by the beach!) but I did do some knitting on my January socks. I turned the heel on both and picked up stitches for the gusset. Right now I am finishing up the decreases on one.

Tonight the fuzzy feet felt-a-long begins! Wheeeee!

Gack. Last night I finished up the cross stitch exchange project from hell. Remind me not to sign up for any more of these. I feel so relieved that I can get back to my knitting today! I want to work on my January socks since, um, it's not even January any more. I want to do the February socks too and I even bought some Lorna's Laces yarn in the colorway "Valentine". Wheee!

Since I have my sewing machine out, yesterday I made my version of the Circular Solution for storing circs. So easy and so inexpensive (I used felt so the whole thing cost me about $2).

I didn't do any knitting yesterday but I had a great day anyway and accomplished a lot. One thing I did was make three of the dpn cases. Fun! They turned out really cute and I'm so proud that I used up stuff from my fabric stash.

Some of my sock yarn on eBay went really quickly so I am continuing to add things here and there. I know I have some mohair in my stash that I will never use so I just need to go through it.

Have a good weekend!
