TGIF. It's been another one of those long weeks even though Monday was a holiday. DH is at a baseball game tonight so I'm going to lounge around and knit & cross stitch. I'm also thinking about what I need to pack for my trip to San Jose tomorrow. Karen has a whole bad of Regia crazy cotton there for me, so I'm just going to bring some needles and start something with that while I'm there.

I finished knitting the front of the Opal baby sweater. Looks like I still have plenty of yarn left to finish it up in one color, but I'm getting a little bored so I decided to change it up a little. I pulled out some solid orange Regia and I'm doing the sleeves in stripes and then I will do the finishing (buttonbands, etc) in orange. I think it will look ok.

I'm off to take an early lunch because I have to work in the manufacturing facility for the rest of the day. blech.

Ooops! I almost forgot to blog today. Well, I'm just plugging along on my Opal baby sweater and the water pump cross stitch. I'm thinking about what I want to knit next, but I want to finish this first.

Oh, I'm flying up to Karen's place in San Jose this weekend so I have to decide what knitting I will bring along. I'm thinking I will start some worsted weight socks for my sister. She needs more for her next Alaska cruise.

Ok. time for some pics! First, here is my 'Water Pump' cross stitch in progress. Here is the white cotton baby sweater that I finished last week. And here is the infant baby sock I just finished using Trekking. Oy!! Are baby feet really that small?? Anyway, I still need to do the second sock, but it's kind of a pain knitting something that small on size 0 dpns.

Well, I didn't do a lot of stitching yesterday. DH actually had the day off so we took a little road trip to Julian, CA. I did bring some knitting for the car and I finished the back of the Opal baby sweater and cast on for the front.

I will try to post some pictures later today.

Yesterday I got the new Rowan Babies book in the mail. It is so cute. I am trying to decide what sweater I want to make first and if I have yarn in my stash for it.

I started a new cross stitch project yesterday. It's another Country Companions (hedgehog) called water pump. So adorable.

Here's the sachet I finished last night for an exchange. It has real dried lavender inside!

Ok, I just finished the bib and here's a pic. It still needs pressing and it's a crummy scan, but you get the idea. It's cute!!

Yesterday I got a package from elann with some cotton/acrylic yarn that I ordered--some for a sweater for me and some in another color for a baby sweater. I also got a PINGOUIN baby pattern booklet and it's fabulous. Lots of really cute patterns inculding pants and jumpers, etc. I took a basic fingering weight pattern from it and started a little sweater using some Opal sock yarn. It's going to be so cute. I'm using Opal crocodile in red.

I'm almost finished with my cross stitch bib--I just have to complete the backstitching.

Last night I made a mistake on the Cotton Tots baby sweater so I decided to frog it. I didn't like it anyway--it was too heavy and too big. Then I started a baby hat with the same yarn, but it looks too big. I know babies have big heads, but....I think that will go to the frog pond as well.

I am looking for a fingering weight baby sweater pattern because I'd really like to make one using some cute sock yarn. I seem to like knitting with finer gauges anyway.

In other news, I hate my job and I also hate doctors!!!

Talk about a short attention span--I keep starting things before I finish what I'm working on. Oh well, the are pretty much all small projects. Last night I started a cross stitch baby bib. I'm using a pattern from Country Companions book 1--it's a little mouse holding a star and it says "my little star". Fun.

I'm continuing on my cotton baby sweater using Cotton Tots. I've decided that this yarn is a little bit too heavy for a sweater so I discontinued the slip stitch pattern after the yoke and I'm doing the rest in solid yellow. It is going really fast, though. I already have the yoke and both sleeves done. Now to just finish the body.

This morning I cast on a pair of baby socks using this pattern and my leftover 'spring' Trekking XXL yarn. It will be fun to use up all my little bits of sock yarn this way and they will be so cute with the patterning.

Yay, the little white baby sweater is complete. I think I will wait until after I wash it to take a pic.

I went to JoAnns yesterday and bought the Leisure Arts booklet "Precious Layettes to Knit". I started sweater #4 using some pale yellow & mint Bernat Cotton tots. I also picked up some cute baby buttons.

I had a good time knitting with Karen yesterday. She was knitting some groovy green striped socks.

I'm so close to finishing my little baby sweater. I just have to finish up the button band on the shoulder and then sew it together. Hmmmm....which one to start next?

Karen is coming over this afternoon and we will hang out and knit. Fun!!!

Oh, my sister just returned from her month long trip on a ship near Alaska (this was not a pleasure cruise, it was a marine biology research cruise). She knit 6 squares for a baby blanket she is making and she taught someone else to knit! She said she wore her handknit wool socks almost every day and she wants more for her next trip. Heavy gauge and preferably machine washable. LOL

Yesterday at lunch my coworker and I made a quick trip to Michael's. I bought 3 of those little baby blanket booklets and some Lion brand cotton. The cotton is for another baby sweater in an old FCEK that I want to make. It's really cute with red and white stripes and a whale on the front. It was also featured on the cover of one of their new books. I may have to make the matching pants as well.

I also joined 2 new yahoo groups--one is a knit baby sweater group and the other is for knitting EZ's baby suprise. I think I have to knit at least one just because.

Last night I finished my teeny tiny baby sweater sleeves. This morning I cast on for the front. I think I may just do it in plain stockinette and then buy some cute buttons to put on the shoulder (there are 3 buttons that go across the left shoulder). I have a lot of cleaning to do today but I hope to get some knitting in this morning. Have a good weekend!

Baby clothes are so fun to knit because they go so fast. Last night I finished the back of my little sweater and this morning I cast on both sleeves. They are short sleeves so they will go really fast. I'm trying to decide if I want to do some sort of design on the front or not (an intarsia heart, maybe)? The only other color I have in this yarn is turquoise, which hopefully is gender-neutral and not too much like baby boy blue. I hate baby boy blue and baby girl pink! Although they would be ok together.

Well, I did work on my cross stitch UFO yesterday although I didn't have a chance to snap an update picture. I got bored with it, though, because it's very simplistic and doesn't have many colors. Ah yes, maybe that's why it's a UFO and not an FO?

I also went through some old knitting magazines looking at baby patterns. I cast on for a cute little short-sleeve sweater using the white 'Malta' (cotton, made in Croatia) that I got from elann. Just for fun. I really like this yarn. It knits up into a soft fabric and the yarn has a tiny bit of sheen running through it.

I took a few picutes today. Here is my wedding sampler in progress. Here is the UFO I picked to work on today. Tomorrow I will post an update!

WOOHOO! There was a big power outage today, including the building where I work. So I get the day off! I went to the bookstore, the post office, and the grocery store already. Now I'm going to settle in for a day of cross stitching. Today is UFO day on one of my cross stitch groups so I think that's what I'll do. I'm going to dig through my cross stitch box and pull out a UFO (most of them are from years ago). It will be like a brand new project! LOL

I went to Michael's and bought a dark blue frame and a bright red mat to frame 'Ed at Play'. It looks so cute! I have it sitting on top of a speaker in the living room so I can look at it and admire it. LOL. I also framed another cross stitch that came back finished from a round robin (Bent Creek's winter row). I will have to take a picture once I get it on the wall.

I also did some work (and some frogging) on my wedding sampler and organized some exchange projects. For the tea time towel, I am using a white fingetip towel and I found a really cute design with 3 different teapots. There's also a floral sachet exchange. I found a cute little design of lavender and then I'm going to stuff the sachet with real lavender that I have from soap making.

Yesterday I got a package from elann that I almost forgot I ordered! It contained my Eurofalx linen in ivory and some sweater patterns. I really wanted to start something new, but I decided against it! I have way too many wips right now.

Today I plan to watch some basketball, cook, and do cross stitch. Have a nice Sunday!!

Yay, I finished the cross stitch I was working on. Here's the pic. Now I have to press it and get to Michael's and find a suitable frame. I figure some day it will look cute in a nursery!

Now I'm going to continue with my wedding sampler and also work on some exchanges I'm in. For the next one, I need to stitch a towel with some sort of "tea time" theme. One of my favorite themes!

I've decided to change my blog up a little bit. I'm going to talk about whatever craft project I am working on at the moment (knitting, cross stitch, sewing, beading). I hope you will continue to read it anyway! :)

So, I am in cross stitch mode. Last night I went through my stash and organized it a little and tried to count up my ufos (never a fun task no matter what the craft)! Well, actually I only have about 10 or so which isn't too bad. I'm finishing up a piece on my work lunch hours called 'Ed at play' (I just need to do the backstitching). Last night I got out the wedding sampler that I started for us last year and I am determined to finish it. It's soooo cute, but it's big so it will take quite a bit of time to finish. I wanted to have it done by our 1-year anniversary but um, that didn't happen. Maybe 2 year??

Bad Stephanie--I haven't been blogging. Well, I haven't been knitting. Actually, I've been cross stitching. It's funny, as soon as spring and summer roll around I don't want to knit anymore and I get out my cross stitching. I wonder if I should talk about it here or start a separate cross stitch blog? What do you think? stephaniefredrickson@yahoo.com

I'm back from Vegas!! Believe it or not, I didn't do any knitting while I was gone. We were either really busy or I wasn't feeling well (like in the car). I did manage to visit 2 yarn stores, though. Gailknits was a really nice store and the person working there (Gail?) was really friendly. I bought this pattern and the yarn (Classic Elite Studio which is 70% viscose & 30% linen) in a purpley-periwinkle color. Another smaller store was called Wooly Wonders (I think). In addition to yarn they also had spinning wheels and fiber. I bought Alice Starmore's The Children's Collection along with some older magazines that were on sale. All in all we had a great time and it's good to be back home. I took today off too so I could recouperate and run some errands. Maybe knit, too! Oh, I also got my package from knitpicks. The cotton tencel blend in an orange color. It looks nice but I haven't even had the chance to take it out of the bag yet.

EEP, I just ordered more yarn! Well, elann just posted some Euroflax linen that I couldn't possibly pass up. I've been thinking about making a tank or tee for myself, but it's normally pretty pricey stuff. The good news is I just got my $50 gift certificate from shopping with them so much. The bad news is, that means I've spent way too much money there! LOL

I'm off to pack. Talk to you Monday!
