Is it Friday yet? Or really what I mean is, is it 5pm on Friday yet? Mostly, I've been working, sleeping, and watching Padres games. Oh, and last night I actually cooked dinner. I've been working on some cross stitch, but I have this random pinched nerve in my neck and I have a feeling that the way I hunch over my cross stitch is not helping.

Anyway, I started this new pattern called Poppy baby.

Cute! Can you tell I like the pudgy little British hedgehogs?? On my lunch hours I'm working on a xs bookmark for an exchange.

I've had some compliments on the cow over the moon onesie (see below) and questions on how I did it. You can cross stitch onto any fabric really, you just need to use waste canvas. Here's a tutorial.

Yesterday I was home sick but I managed to finish up a cross stitch wall-hanging for mother's day

Still no knitting going on here. I guess this beautiful spring weather doesn't motivate me to knit. (uh, nevermind the fact that it's almost always warm and sunny here in Southern California-heh).

One of the cross stitch boards had a UFO weekend over the last 3 days, so I got out my cross stitch wedding sampler (that I started about 3 years ago). I got a decent amount done, but it's big (11 x 14) and there's lots of boring white to stitch. Last night I put it away and started a mini-sampler for my mom for mother's day. Oh, I'm also stitching her mother's day card as well. That's for lunch hours.

Yes, I'm still alive. I've just been really busy with work and I haven't done any knitting since Friday (gasp)! I have been doing a little bit of cross stitch here and there. One of the message boards does Christmas stitching on Monday nights so I joined in and finished up this

It was a free kit from a UK mag last Christmas. I just popped it into a pre-finished tuck pillow and I think it looks pretty cute.

Photo day!

Well, I'm in a cross stitching mood again. I think it's because it's spring? Who knows. Here is the baby onesie I finished Saturday morning.

I also finished a ufo. It has been sitting in my craft corner for months and all that was left was a little bit of backstitching. I think this is totally adorable and I'm going to take it in and have it professionally framed.

Last but not least, I am about ready to start the heel on waving lace sock #1

I started the waving lace socks in LL daffodil and I'm loving them. This pattern is so much fun (just like everyone else said)--it's not hard, but it's interesting enough so you don't get bored. I really love the colors in this yarn (bright yellow, green and turquoise), but I'm a little disappointed cuz it's coming out kind of stripey. I definitely didn't expect that. I don't think I will rip, although I think the stripes kind of take away from the lovely lace pattern. I promise to post a pic this weekend. TGIF!!!!

Meh. I'm overtired and my brain is all over the place. As a result, I can't decide what I want to work on.

Yesterday I got the urge to work on cross stitch. I really should finish a UFO, but did I? noooo, I started a new project. I'm using waste canvas to stitch a little design on a yellow baby onesie. All I accomplished last night was picking out a pattern (a cow jumping over a moon) and basting the waste canvas onto the fabric.

Yesterday I also decided that I really should do some sewing. I have quite a stash of fabric, my sewing machine is still sitting on the dining room table, and I need clothes for work. So, I got out some lightweight denim and cut out a pair of capri pants. That's as far as I got there.

This morning I saw an FO pic of a friend's waving lace socks (from the recent IK) and I decided that I need to start those. I purchased the new Lorna's Laces color daffodil just for this pattern, so I stuck that in my purse this morning and I'm hoping to start them at lunchtime.

This is all the knitting I've accomplished in the last few days. But it's purty and it's one of my favorite sock yarns so it's keeping me entertained (I'm having problems with my digital camera so that's a scanned image. The colors really look quite a bit different than that--sherbet colors).

Sunday we drove up to see the in-laws. DH drove, but I don't usually knit in the car due to carsickness. I did knit while we were there, though. Also today at lunch and a little bit tonight. Whoo-eee, it's almost my bedtime--10pm!

Just when I was thinking that I didn't feel like working on any of my current projects....the mailman brought me yarn!! My new Regia surf arrived and the colors are nice and bright and cheery. I'm going to cast on right now! Later: knitting during the Padres game. Tomorrow: knitting at my MIL's place. Happy holidays and whatnot!

whine
Wah. I have PMS. My stomach is upset. My carpal tunnel hurts. I'm having PCOS-related issues. I'm off for the weekend, but I'm so friggin' tired that I can't enjoy it at the moment. I want to knit or sew or clean or cook but I'm too tired for that too. I have to sit in traffic for a million hours on Sunday in order to visit my in-laws. I can't eat Easter candy.

Phew. I just had to get that off my chest. As DH always says, it could be worse....

So I finished broadripple sock #1 last night. I really like it--it's cute and very comfy (and I can wear it in the summer)! I should cast on sock #2 immediately, but instead I'm thinking that I'd like to make another pair in some sock-weight yarn (maybe Regia stretch)? Oh, and I decided to join the Linen Drape-along. I have a bag of 'watermelon' that's screaming to be a summer top. Hmmmm...

I almost forgot to post today! Stupid work. It's eating up all my knitting, web-surfing, and snoozing time! Oh well, things are starting to get a little better. When I got home on Monday I thought I was going to die (well, quit my job first, then faint dramatically anyway).

At lunchtime I've been (slowly) working on my black regia ringel socks. Today I actually had 45 minutes cuz I scarfed down my pasta salad in only 15! Last night I did a few rows on the chicken sweater and I'm almost done with the fair isle band around the bottom. Hopefully I will get around to posting a pic this weekend.

I joined the broadripple sock knit-along which has motivated me to work on the yellow one that I started. Here's a progress photo:

In case you're interested in spending some money, Carodan Farm is having a one-day sale today. I actually didn't buy anything from the sale, but I did purchase three balls of the new Regia Surf cotton blend sock yarn (5412, 5413, and 5415). It looks fun and I love that blend of fibers for summer.

Well, I survived my first day of work. Barely. I didn't do much knitting yesterday--just a couple of rows on the chicken sweater. I brought my lunch today so I'm planning to at least work on some socks after I eat.

Guess what? Chicken butt!

I cast on for the body of the Dale chicken sweater this weekend. Right away on the bottom you get to do the band of chickens that goes all the way around and I finished the chicken bodies (or, it's funnier to say I finished the chicken butts, obviously). It's so simple but still so cute. I love fair isle. I don't know why I don't do more of it. It keeps me entertained and I always want to finish just one more row to see how the pattern is going to look. Maybe I should start on my Kaffe F. fair isle soon!

Whaaa! Time to head off to my first day at my new job. I hate first days.

Baby raglan

I had a headache most of yesterday so I didn't get much accomplished. I did manage to do some laundry (which included the baby raglan) and sew on the button. I knit a little bit on the cotton baby leggings--they are going quickly. Hmm..which ufo will I work on next?

The yellow baby sweater is finished. I did one sleeve in the round and the other one flat. Why? Well, doing the first one in the round was kind of a pain (on dpns) and I got ladders so I just didn't want to do that again. Of course, you can tell if you look closely, but it doesn't bother me. I don't think a baby will mind either. It's still cute and it's my favorite color! I picked up stitches and knit a garter stitch band on the front, but I didn't like how it looked. I should have just knit it as I knit the sweater. So, I just crocheted along the edge. It still curls in a little bit, but that's ok. Now I need to wash it and add the button. Maybe some embroidery too. We'll see.

I can't decide what I want to work on today. So many knitting & sewing projects and so little time before I go back to work. Oh, and I really love this pattern in the new knitty and I'm trying to think what I have in my stash that will work. I actually have some Rowan Wool Cotton, but I think I want to save that for something else as I have 2 full bags.

Look Ma, it's (almost) a baby sweater!

I just have to do the sleeves and the front bands. I'm thinking I might just go ahead and do the sleeves in the round. Today I went to Joann's and picked up a cute bumblebee button for a closure. Of course, stopping at JoAnn's reminded me of all the sewing projects I'd like to work on.....
